'Tips for developers working within the Sysgem Enterprise Manager (SEM) environment'.

Modify the GUI and scripts in Own Library' or a SEM Module Library:

In the "Displays" Selection Tab (which is normally on the left of the SEM Management Console) expand "Own Library" or the SEM Module that needs to be modified. There will be an 'Edit' icon ( ) below the yellow 'Help' icon, as shown below, if you are permitted to use the SEM Development Interface:

To start the Development Interface double click on the Edit icon in the appropriate library.

Setting Permissions to start the SEM Development Interface:

If you are not able to see the 'Edit' ( ) icons as above then check the following permissions from a privileged account such as the SEM 'System' account.

  • The SEM 'User Profile' allocated to your SEM account needs to have the permission set
  • The SEM 'Master Profile' on your system needs to have the permission set
  • Your SEM License has to contain the permission to use the Development Interface

User Profile:

Your SEM account has an Access Control Profile associated with it. Find the name of the profile allocated to your account by using the main SEM menu option: "Managers" > "SEM Users" > "Accounts". Double click on your own account and see what profile is allocated to it. Then use the menu option: " Managers" > "SEM Users" > "Profiles" and edit the profile used by your account.

To be able to use the SEM Development Interface you need the permission "Define Custom Displays" as shown below. Note that "Override" Access Control" will also grant access to the Development Interface.

Master Profile:

The Master Profile is similar to a User Profile, but it applies to all accounts that use this SEM Authorization Server.

If you are having difficulty providing access to the Development Interface, it could be that the Master Profile has the option turned off. To view / modify the Master profile you must be logged in as the SEM "System" account.

License:

To check the License, use the main SEM menu option: "Tools" > "License Manager" and double click on the displayed license. The following window will be displayed:

If the "#MODULE" tokens do not include either:

  • "SDeM Development Manager", or,
  • "Customization Manager" for the required module name (e.g. SAcM, SSyM) ...

... then you need to contact Sysgem AG to be able to use the Development Interface.
