Users need a SEM Account to be able to use Sysgem Enterprise Manager

Managing SEM Accounts

A privileged SEM account such as the "System" accounts has to be used to manage other SEM users.

Invoke the SEM Menu option: "Managers" > "SEM Users" and either create a new account or edit an existing one.

The following form is displayed:

Mirroring to Simplify SEM Account Management

There are two types of SEM Account:

  • Normal
  • Mirrored

A "Normal" account MUST have a SEM Access Control Profile assigned to it, whereas a "Mirrored" account uses the Access Control Profile from the 'Base Account' that this account mirrors.

To reduce the amount of configuration that is needed when a number of people need the same type of access to SEM: create a "Normal" account with the appropriate privileges set and then mirror the multiple users to this one "Normal" account. When you need to change the privilege level for this group of users, change the Normal Account settings and the other accounts that are "Mirrored" to it will automatically have their privilege levels reset the next time they log into SEM.

For information about setting up privilege levels see Access Control Profiles.

Mirroring Agent Definitions

To control the definitions of SEM Agents, a SEM user can either have their own set of definitions that they manage themselves, or they can "Mirror" another account and use the Agent Defintions from that other account. It is common to have a small number of accounts (Agent Manager Accounts) that define SEM Agents and for the remaining SEM users to be mirrored to one of these Agent Manager Accounts for their agent definitions.
